EUREKA, CA, December 19, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Louis B. Marak with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Marak celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Marak is a professor emeritus of art at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA, who taught ceramics on campus between 1969 and 2006. Prior to joining the Humboldt faculty, he spent two years as an instructor at Keuka College in Keuka Park, NY. Although fully retired from academia after nearly 40 years, he continues to create ceramic, three-dimensional pieces in his studio that explore both paradox and illusion. Beginning each piece with a full-size drawing that is transferred onto clay slabs and used as a pattern to cut the slabs and build the sculpture, Mr. Marak's subject matter deals primarily with containers and containment.

Exhibited both nationally and abroad and represented in various collections at such locations as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Renwick Gallery in Washington, DC, Mr. Marak has also been included at the Everson Museum of Art in New York, the Henry Art Museum in Seattle, WA, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Outside the United States, his work has also been on international display at such locations as the Hong Kong Museum of Art in China, the National Museum of Jakarta in Indonesia, and the Suntory Art Museum in Tokyo, Japan.

Mr. Marak received a National Endowment for the Arts Craftsmen's fellowship in 1975, California Arts Council Artist fellowship in 1994 and American Crafts Council fellowship in 2009. Mr. Marak has notably been cited in the 54th through 58th editions of Who's Who in America and the 26th edition of Who's Who in the West.

Born in Shawnee, OK, Mr. Marak later studied at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in pursuit of an industrial design degree. Taking a pottery class, he quickly switched his major, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in crafts in 1965. He then attended graduate school at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, where he completed a Master of Fine Arts in ceramics in 1967.

Married to Noelle Stephanie Cusumano since 1966, Mr. Marak has two sons, Jason and Ethan, as well as two grandchildren, Louis and Antonietta.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Louis B. Marak has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
