Charles V. Wait Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Charles V. Wait is a longstanding member of the American Institute of Banking, the Economic Club of New York and the Independent Bankers Association of New York State.

Since 1989, Mr. Wait has been the Chairman of the Board for The Adirondack Trust Company in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Notably, The Adirondack Trust Company is an independent bank that has been serving the upstate New York area for more than a century, providing solutions and expert consultation in banking, insurance and wealth management. Beginning his tenure for the company in 1974, he initially held the posts of assistant vice president, secretary and treasurer over the course of 10 years. He then served as president in 1984, a position he maintained for 30 years. Furthermore, he was the bank's chief executive officer between 1989 and 2017.

Originally earning his undergraduate degree at Cornell University in 1973, Mr. Wait began working as a bank teller to support his law school pursuits. Becoming fully engaged in the business, he decided to remain in the field of banking. By 1981, he had graduated from the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University in New Jersey. In the years since, Mr. Wait has been affiliated with multiple banking organizations. In addition to his Chairman responsibilities, he is currently a Director of the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership since 2014, the Museum of American Finance since 2011, and the New York Bankers Association since 1995. He formerly served as a Director for the Center for Economic Growth and was a Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, among other roles.

Active locally for more than 40 years, Mr. Wait's role as Chairman of the Saratoga Springs City Center Authority between 1983 and 1989 was a pivotal point in his career. Building the city center was a long process but has had a huge impact on his community. He was a Director of Skidmore College, Chairman of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, a Director of the National Museum of Dance, and several other establishments as well.

Mr. Wait is a longstanding member of the American Institute of Banking, the Economic Club of New York and the Independent Bankers Association of New York State. He is also a member of multiple clubs such as the McGregor Links Country Club, the Saratoga Golf and Polo Club, the New York Athletic Club, the New York Yacht Club, and the Economics Club of New York.

A career that encompassed much success, Mr. Wait has been recognized for his work many times. In recent years, he was inducted into the Saratoga Springs High School Hall of Distinction and the Saratoga Springs History Museum Hall of Fame. Mr. Wait was also the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Saratoga Springs Rotary Education Foundation.

Mr. Wait further accepted a Paul Harris fellowship with Rotary District 7190, a Distinguished Economic Development Leadership Award from the Saratoga Economic Development Corporation and a Private Sector Initiative Award from President Ronald Reagan. He has notably been selected for inclusion in over 50 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Finance and Industry and Who's Who in Finance and Business since 1989. Mr. Wait proudly completed the New York City Marathon two times and climbed both Mount Rainier and Mount Cotopaxi.
