LEESBURG, VA, December 27, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premiere publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Janice Greenberg Ellinwood with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Greenberg Ellinwood celebrates many years' experience in her professional work, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

For 38 years, Janice Greenberg Ellinwood, Professor Emerita, taught fashion design and merchandising at Marymount University in Arlington, VA, while simultaneously rising from lecturer to professor of fine and applied arts and serving as chair of the fashion department from 1987 to 2017. During her tenure, Ellinwood wrote and illustrated Fashion By Design (Fairchild Books, 2011) as well as book chapters, journal articles and case studies. She proudly served as a Fulbright scholar in fashion design at Bulgaria's National Academy of Art in 2001. Working with the 28 renowned recipients of Marymount's Designer of the Year Award, including Geoffrey Beene, Oscar de la Renta, Tommy Hilfiger, and Michael Kors, enriched her knowledge of the field. She was an artist who exhibited around the US and served internationally as a media expert on the fashion industry for outlets such as Fuscia magazine, Le Progres Lyon Matin, ABC News, CBS Telenoticias, The Washington Post, NPR, and AP Radio.

Ms. Greenberg Ellinwood earned a Bachelor of Science from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, in 1974, and went on to obtain a Master of Fine Arts from The George Washington University in Washington DC 12 years later. In the interim, she conducted postgraduate study at the University of Massachusetts and Syracuse University. Prior to her employment at Marymount, she worked as a buyer and visual presentation director for Blake's Department Stores, a subsidiary of Van Heusen, in Springfield, MA from 1974 to 1977, before becoming an instructor of business at Bay Path University in Longmeadow, MA. She has been a member of various associations within her field, including the College Art Association, the Colored Pencil Society of America, Costume Society of America, Fashion Group International, the Fulbright Association, and the International Textile and Apparel Association.

Ms. Ellinwood's legacy comes from investing in her students and enriching their lives during her 40 years in higher education. She proudly directed the production of Marymount's Portfolio in Motion student fashion show. Her research included the ethics of fashion advertising, pedagogical methods of enhancing creativity (using media, music, theater, and poetry), preventing child labor in the fashion industry, and most importantly, the application of Bauhaus theory to fashion design, proving it is a pure art form like painting and architecture.

These topics, along with her teaching, enabled her to consult with the US Department of Labor, the Smithsonian's Museum of American History, USAID, the Folger Shakespeare Library, Catholic Daughters of America, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. She successfully mentored students for placing in or winning fashion design competitions sponsored by Air France, the Fashion Group International, Lord & Taylor, Dupont Inc. and the Underfashions Club, and Harlequin Romance. Marymount University's School of Arts and Sciences honored her with the Community Service Award in 2012. Greenberg Ellinwood continues to work as an author, illustrator, and artist. She is listed in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who of American Women.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Janice Greenberg Ellinwood has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
