Francis Fehlner has spent his career working as a research scientist for Corning Incorporated.

With more than 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Fehlner has spent his career working as a research scientist for Corning Incorporated. After retirement in 1995, he continued as a consultant to Corning. In addition to his primary responsibilities, he was an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Cornell University from 1991 to 2006. Activities outside his professional duties included the Library Support Committee of the Southeast Steuben County Library, singing in the Corning Philharmonic Society during the 1970's-1980's, and practicing glass blowing at the Glass Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass.

Dr. Fehlner began his career as a student at Holy Cross College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1956. He subsequently studied at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in 1959. Following his education, Dr. Fehlner joined the United States Air Force, serving from 1959 to 1962 and attaining the rank of First Lieutenant.

A respected voice in his areas of expertise, Dr. Fehlner has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations in his community. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Electrochemical Society, and Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society. In addition, he holds 15 patents in the field, and he has contributed 70 plus articles to professional journals.

Notably, Dr. Fehlner is the author of "Low Temperature Oxidation." Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his achievements and accomplishments with awards and accolades. Dr. Fehlner has been celebrated in numerous publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
