An accomplished listee, Mr. Coquillette celebrates many years of experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. With more than 45 years of professional experience, Mr. Coquillette has been the J. Donald Monan S.J. University Professor at Boston College Law School since 1996 and the Charles Warren Visiting Professor of American Legal History at Harvard Law School since 2008. He has also been Reporter to the Committee on Practice and Procedure of the Judicial Conference of the United States from 1985 to 2018. He was Dean at Boston College Law School from 1985 to 1993, and an associate professor of law at Boston University from 1975 to 1978. In addition to his academic positions, he served as a partner with Palmer Dodge from 1980 to 1985, having previously been an associate with the firm from 1975 to 1978. Earlier in his career, Mr. Coquillette was a law clerk to Justice Robert Braucher on the Massachusetts Supreme Court from 1971 to 1972 and Chief Justice Warren E. Burger of the United States Supreme Court from 1972 to 1973.

Mr. Coquillette began his career as a student at Williams College, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1966. He then enrolled as a Fulbright Scholar at University College, Oxford, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Jurisprudence in 1969. He concluded his studies with Harvard University, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1971. Mr. Coquillette has been admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, as well as before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

A respected voice in legal education, Mr. Coquillette has been affiliated with a number of organizations in his community. A former member of the Committee on Professional Ethics of the American Bar Association, he has maintained involvement with the American Law Institute, the Massachusetts Bar Association, and the Boston Bar Association. He is also a member of the American Society of Legal History, the Selden Society, the Colonial Society of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Historical Society, the American Antiquarian Society, and the Phi Beta Kappa. In light of his exemplary accomplishments, Mr. Coquillette has been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World.
