He formerly taught in the Department of Materials Engineering and was a visiting research professor at the University of Connecticut in the Center for Clean Energy Engineering. Furthermore, Dr. Singh is also the former director of Monash Energy Materials and Systems.
Boasting expertise in novel nanotechnology and the green approaches to mitigation of environment-assisted degradation, environment-assisted cracking, structural integrity of civil and aerospace infrastructures, biomedical implant applications and advanced and traditional energy systems, Dr. Singh holds a Doctor of Philosophy in metallurgical engineering. He is a Fellow of ASM International, the Materials and Minerals Society and Fellow, Institution of Engineers Australia. Likewise, Dr. Singh is a long standing member of the Australasian Corrosion Association and lifetime member of the Indian Institute of Metals and the Indian Society for Non-Destructive Testing.
Heavily involved by chairing and co-chairing dozens of international conferences across the world, including in the U.S., India and China, Dr. Singh recently chaired the 17th Australian International Aerospace Congress in Melbourne, Australia in 2017, and the Technical stream of Annual Corrosion and Protection Conference for the Australian Corrosion Association in 2016. He has delivered in excess of 30 Plenary and Keynote talks, beside numerous invited talks, at international conferences in his area of expertise, and has written extensively. He has served as Editor-in-Chief, editorial board member, author, co-author, guest editor, and in various other roles for professional publications and has also contributed chapters to several books and reviewed many conference proceedings. He is currently Editor-in-Chief of Materials journal (Corrosion and Materials Degradation Section), on the editorial boards for Engineering Fracture Mechanics since 2017, Emerging Materials Research since 2013, the Open Corrosion Journal since 2009 and the International Journal of Corrosion since 2008. Additionally, Dr. Singh has been serving on the board of review of Metallurgical and Materials Transactions with the ASM International since 2005.
