Donald Miles was named a fellow of the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Dental Research.

With more than 45 years of professional experience, Dr. Miles has been the owner of Caring Touch Massage Therapy Center since 1999. Prior to establishing his own firm, he was a clinical microbiologist and section supervisor of the laboratory department at the St. Francis Medical Center from 1981 to 2001 and chief of the sections of microbiology and immunology and the department of pathology at St. Mary's Hospital from 1976 to 1981. From 1973 to 1976, he was an assistant professor with the Grand Valley State University College of Health Professions. Earlier in his career, Dr. Miles was a postdoctoral fellow in the department of oral biology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in 1973, having been an instructor in the school's department of microbiology in 1972.
Dr. Miles began his career with the Nebraska National Guard, serving from 1956 to 1966, and remaining with the United States Naval Reserve until 1992. In addition to his military service, he pursued an education at the University of Nebraska, completing coursework in 1960. He then joined Hastings College, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1964. He subsequently returned to the University of Nebraska, where he earned a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1967 and 1972, respectively. Dr. Miles is certified in public health and medical microbiology, nutritional consulting, and is licensed as a massage therapist and a bio cranial therapist.
A respected voice in his community, Dr. Miles has been active with a number of organizations in his areas of interest. He is a member of the American Society for Microbiology, the Nebraska Academy of Sciences, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the South Central Association for Clinical Microbiology, the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals, and Sigma Xi. He has served on the board of directors for the American Red Cross. Dr. Miles is a member of the La Croix Methodist Church.
Throughout his career, Dr. Miles has been honored for his contributions. He was named a fellow of the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Dental Research.
