Wojtasik (CT, Ret) with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Brig. Gen. Wojtasik celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Enlisting as a private in the Connecticut Army National Guard, Wojtasik rose through the ranks accepting a commission as a Second Lieutenant, Infantry upon graduation from Officer Candidate School in 1970. In 1972 he was transferred to Co B, 1st Battalion, 102nd Infantry as a Rifle Company Commander. In 1977 he was hired full-time into the Federal Technician Program as a Captain, Training Officer in 2nd Battalion 102nd Infantry. From 1976 to 1990, he served with the 43rd Infantry Brigade as Executive Officer. He was Commander of the 242nd Combat Engineer Battalion in addition to other staff positions, as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was promoted to Full Colonel and was assigned as Director of Logistics for the Connecticut Army National Guard. In addition to being Commander of Joint Task Force Husky. He retired as a Colonel, having held the positions of Director of Logistics and Deputy Chief of Staff Logistics until 2004. He has been honored with dozens of awards and decorations for his service over 36 years. Upon retiring, Colonel Wojtasik's dedication was rewarded when he was promoted to Brigadier General, for his exceptional dedication and outstanding service to the State of Connecticut. Wojtasik is the former owner of Colonel Joe's Personalized Stuff LLC.

Prior to embarking on his career, Wojtasik received a Bachelor of Arts in history from Saint Leo University in St. Leo Florida, in 1968. He also was awarded a scholarship as a varsity basketball player. Following this accomplishment, he graduated from the Officer Candidate School in 1970, and was later inducted into the Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame. He Graduated from the Infantry Officer Branch and Advanced Courses at Fort Benning, Georgia. He is also branch qualified in Quartermaster and Combat Engineer. He is also a graduate of the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Wojtasik has additional certification as a Notary Public for the State of Connecticut.

Though retired, Wojtasik remains affiliated with the United States Army and is also a life member of such organizations as the American Legion, the Military Officers Association of America, the National Guard Association of the United States, the Association of the United States Army. He also is a member of the 1-102nd Infantry Association and is Executive Director of the 242nd Combat Engineer Battalion Association. A highly decorated officer, he has been awarded the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal (2), the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Gold Hourglass Device, the Army Service Ribbon, the Selective Reserve Forces Medal, the Overseas Training Ribbon, the Eisenhower Award, the Connecticut Long Service Medal (35 years), the Connecticut Emergency Service Ribbon (with 6 clusters), the Connecticut Wartime Service Medal and numerous federal and state awards and resolutions. Wojtasik has previously been selected for inclusion in the 61st edition of Who's Who in America. He is also included in a publication, Legendary Locals of Wallingford, CT by Tarn Grannucci.

Wojtasik is married to Ruth A. Wojtasik, they reside in Wallingford, CT on Wojtasik Drive. Wojtasik Drive was named for him and his father Col Theodore A. Wojtasik for a combined total of over 65 years of dedicated military service. His father was his motivation and inspiration to pursue an Army career. His entire immediate family resides on Wojtasik Drive – son Joe Jr and Lance and daughter Christy Mitchell along with nine grandchildren; Joey III, Brianna, Aiden, Khaleesi, Lance Jr, Logan Wojtasik and Brendan, Kyle and Tate Mitchell.
