Utilizing more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Braun most recently served as a professor of chemistry at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 1986 until retiring from the industry in 2008, also serving as department head from 1992 to 2008. Prior to obtaining these roles, he worked from assistant to associate professor with the university from 1977 to 1986. From 1974 to 1977, he acted as an assistant professor at Vassar College, and from 1973 to 1974, he served as a visiting assistant professor with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Likewise, from 1972 to 1973, he held the role of lecturer with the University of Michigan. Earlier in his career, Dr. Braun was a teacher with Branford High School in Connecticut from 1965 to 1966.

Dr. Braun commenced his career as a student at the University of Colorado, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1965. He subsequently attended the University of Connecticut, receiving a Master of Science in 1969. He continued his studies with the university, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy in 1971. Dr. Braun concluded his studies with the University of Connecticut, completing a postdoctoral fellowship in 1972.

A leading expert in his industry, Dr. Braun has been an active voice in his community. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Electrochemical Society, Sigma Xi and Phi Kappa Phi. A contributor of myriad articles in professional journals, he has also written several books in relation to his area of expertise, including "Introduction to Chemical Analysis", "Applications of Chemical Analysis" and "Instructor's Manual and Solutions Manual for an Introduction to Chemical Analysis" in 1982 (all McGraw Hill) and "Introduction to Instrumental Analysis" (McGraw Hill) in 1987 with the second edition published (PharmaMed Press) in 2012.

As a testament to his profound success, Dr. Braun has accrued multiple accolades. Recognized with an award from the American Microchemical Society, he also received the Amoco Outstanding Teacher Award. Most recently, he was the recipient of the Distinguished Professor Award from the University of Louisiana Foundation in 1986. Furthermore, he has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
