In his position, he specializes in medical malpractice, mass tort, and personal injury. Earlier in his career, Mr. Messerly was a Special Assistant City Attorney for the City of Saint Paul, MN.
Mr. Messerly began his career as a student at Bowdoin College, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1981. He continued his studies with Hamline University, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, in 1986. He has been admitted to practice in the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin, as well as before the United States District Courts of the Districts of Minnesota and Wisconsin and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Mr. Messerly is also a graduate of the Skip Barber Racing School.
A respected leader in his community, Mr. Messerly has been affiliated with a number of organizations in his areas of expertise. He is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, American Board of Trial Advocates, and Captain of the Bar Association/MN Hockey Team (1990-2017).
Throughout his career, Mr. Messerly has been recognized for his achievements and accomplishments. Named Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in America in 2018, he has been listed in the Top 100 Verdicts of 2017 by the National Law Journal, named to the Circle of Excellence by Minnesota Lawyer in 2017, and named Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer in 2000, 2008, and 2017. Furthermore, Phi Alpha Delta named an accolade in his honor, entitled the Chris Messerly Community Service Award, in 2010, and the National Legal Aid and Defender Association honored him with the Arthur von Briesen Award in 2010. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in American Law and Best Lawyers in America.
