OVIEDO, FL, January 10, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Paul Andrew Spurlock, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Spurlock celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An engineering professional for more than 30 years, Dr. Spurlock has been serving as an engineering manager for WestRock Automated Packaging Systems in Orlando, FL, for the past nine years. A successful career that dates back to 1985, he formerly worked as a senior controls engineer for Assembly and Test Worldwide in Lebanon, MO, controls engineer for Weldun International Ltd. in Bridgman, MI, and as a senior vice president of S&A Automated Systems, Inc., in Boca Raton, FL, among prominent other roles.

Dr. Spurlock is an expert in assessing systems from an overall perspective and trying to identify ways to control or predict their failure modes through optimized simultaneous solutions. He has conducted extensive research in intrinsic reactor safeguarding, process-control integration requirements and has served as a principal investigator for numerous innovative industrial control methodologies. He also holds multiple patents in the field of packaging machinery and mechanisms.

Throughout his career, Dr. Spurlock has consulted for NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. Taking an interest in science and mathematics in middle school, Dr. Spurlock was equally involved in the arts. At the conclusion of a saxophone solo in high school, he was offered a full scholarship to Tulane University for his musical talents. He instead turned to chemical and nuclear engineering. He has notably held a Bachelor of Science in nuclear engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology since 1985 and a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology since 1987 and 1989, respectively. His dissertation was titled "Prediction and Control of Electromagnetic Perturbations in a Plasma Field."

Born in Atlanta, GA, Dr. Spurlock later married his wife Hope J. Spurlock. He has two children. In his free time, he enjoys playing the saxophone, keyboard and guitar and supporting local music pedagogy. He also loves performing and listening to jazz music.
