SAN MATEO, CA, January 16, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Jerry L. McBride with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. McBride celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Beginning his career in education in music, Mr. McBride really wanted his profession to become the center and focus of his life. After exploring his options, he decided to transition from education to library science by becoming a music librarian. Today, he is the head librarian in the Music Library and Archive of Recorded Sound at Stanford University in California. Hired in 2003, he is responsible for the administration of the library, supervision of the library staff, the library budget, and setting library policies with the library staff regarding circulation, collection development, reference service, and cataloging. Mr. McBride also finds and acquires new library collections, works with other library departments to provide digital access to music library materials, and collaborates with the library staff to continually improve the Archive and Music Library services for research, study and teaching. He previously taught as an assistant in instruction for clarinet at Middlebury College between 1986 and 2003 and was an archivist and assistant archivist at the Arnold Schoenberg Institute in Los Angeles between 1979 and 1986.

Throughout his career, Mr. McBride has contributed multiple articles to scholarly journals and was the author of "Douglas Moore: A Bio-Bibliography," MLA Index and Bibliography Series volume 36, in 2011. He also co-authored a catalog at the Arnold Schoenberg Institute, which housed the archives and library of the great 20th-century composer, which was very gratifying.

Mr. McBride is a past president, former vice president and former board of directors member of the Music Library Association and former board of directors member of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections. He is also a longtime member of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres, the International Clarinet Association, and several honor societies.

The recipient of multiple grants from such organizations as the National Historical Publications and Records Commission, the National Park Service and the National Endowment for the Humanities, Mr. McBride also received a Vincent H. Duckles Award from the Music Library Association for best book-length bibliography or other research tool in music in 2011. He has been cited in the 25th edition of Who's Who in the West and the 63rd and 65th editions of Who's Who in America.

Obtaining a Bachelor of Music, magna cum laude, from the University of Redlands in 1976, Mr. McBride then completed a Master of Music at the University of Wisconsin in 1978 and Master of Library Science at Kent State University in 1979. Married to Kuanghui Lü since 2014, Mr. McBride has two wonderful sons. In his free time, he enjoys reading literature, practicing calligraphy and playing chamber music.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Jerry L. McBride has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
