Before retiring from his role as a full-time educator, Dr. Weber was a graduate coordinator of adapted physical education and a part-time graduate teacher in the department of kinesiology and health at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh from 2011 to 2014. Three years prior, he held the positions of graduate coordinator, assistant chair, coordinator of adapted physical education and professor in the department of kinesiology and health at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. From 2007 to 2009, he was the chair of the division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, associate professor and coordinator of adapted physical education at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD.
In 2002, Dr. Weber worked as a coordinator of adapted physical education at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Two years prior, he served as an associate professor of physical education at Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN. Before these appointments, he flourished as a physical education teacher at the Dakota Memorial School. Previously he excelled as an assistant professor of physical education at Bemidji State University in Bemidji, MN from 1985 to 1986 and 1996 to 1997 and at Minot State University in Minot, MN from 1998 to 1999.
In 1996, Dr. Weber held the posts of an assistant professor and coordinator of the adapted physical education program at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. Furthermore, he was a supervisor of special physical education at Lubbock State School in Lubbock, TX from 1981 to 1983 and an assistant professor of health and physical education and coach at Dakota State University in Madison, SD from 1978 to 1980. At Virden High School in Virden, IL, he taught driver education and was the head football and track coach from 1975 to 1978.
From 1973 to 1975, Dr. Weber proudly built his career as an instructor, coach and intramural director at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, IA. He notably contributed to Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL, as a graduate assistant from 1972 to 1973 and an assistant professor from 1987 to 1989. From 1972 to 1973, he taught elementary physical education and was an assistant basketball coach at Charleston Public Schools in Charleston, IL. His professional career began as a director of recreation and adult education and coach at Cass Lake Public Schools in Cass Lake, MN from 1971 to 1972.
Aside from these primary roles, Dr. Weber held the role of instructor for the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT in 1981. From 1983 to 1984, he was a lecturer at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Additionally, he worked as a counselor at the Northwest Juvenile Training Center in 1980.
Dr. Weber began his academic pursuits at Bemidji State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in physical education and health in 1971. He continued his studies at Eastern Illinois University and obtained a Master of Science in physical education in 1973. Ultimately, he graduated with a Doctor of Education in special physical education and administration at the University of Utah in 1985.
Civically, Dr. Weber has been a volunteer for Special Olympics since 1987, for which he was on the advisory board for region 17 from 1989 to 1996. Also, he found success as the vice president at the Swimming and Diving Booster Club from 1991 to 1992, the Lubbock High School Gymnastics Booster Club from 1991 to 1992. From 1990 to 1991, he consulted for Lubbock Office Planning for Cruise for Disabled Program.
From 1989 to 1996, Dr. Weber was involved as an advisor for the South Plains Wheelchair Spokers. In addition to this responsibility, he was associated with the Bemidji Lions Club as a treasurer since 2015, the president from 2013 to 2014 and on the board of directors since 2012. Furthermore, he held a membership in the Alliance for Health, the National Association of Sports and Physical Education, the Adapted Physical Education Academy, the National Consortium of Physical Education and Recreation for Individuals with Disabilities, and the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activities. He was also a member of the Leisure Special Populations, the Therapeutic Council at the Texas Alliance of Health and the Physical Education of Recreation and Dance region 17 where he was a member from 1989 to 1996.
For all of his professional accomplishments, Dr. Weber has been awarded numerous grants from foundations and organizations. He has also accepted the 15 Year Service Award from Special Olympics International in 1990, the Special Service Award from the Illinois High School Athletic Association in 1989, International Man of the Year from 1994 to 1995, a Citation of Meritorious Achievement in Education and Rehabilitation in 1994 and was named one of the Outstanding Young Men of American Jaycees in 1990. In 1990, he was the honorary coach of the Texas Tech University football team and the honored guest at the Special Olympics for Summer Games in Vancouver, Canada. In 2004, he was presented with the In-Fisherman Fox Valley Award for Significant Contribution to Fishing in Wisconsin. He also accrued an award from the American Association for Leisure and Recreation, the Tommy Wilson Award presented at the American Alliance for Health, from Physical Education and Recreation, and the Dance National Convention for Significant Contribution to Recreation for Individuals with Disabilities in 2005.
Moreover, Dr. Weber was the coordinator for the Adapted Physical Activity Council National Adapted Physical Education Program at the university level in Baltimore, MD in 2007. That same year, at the Evening of Stars, he was honored with the Civic Engagement Award which was presented by the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for Outstanding Service to the Community and use of Service Learning. Other awards to his credit include an Adapted Physical Council's Service Award, which was sponsored by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and the AAALF in 2011, and the International President's Certificate of Appreciation Award for Recognition of Distinguished Achievement from Lions Club International from 2016 to 2017. Notably, Dr. Weber has written four books, published 145 articles and abstracts and made 103 national and international presentations with many of them dealing with the movement skills of children with genetic disorders. As a collegiate coach Dr. Weber developed 8 Football All Americans and 16 Track & Field All Americans in 8 years of coaching at the collegiate level.
