Dr. William Tietjen has earned the designation of emeritus professor of biology at Georgia Southwestern State University

At the beginning of his career, he found success as a physical health associate for Oak Ridge National Laboratory. In light of his many accomplishments, Dr. Tietjen is most proud of inspiring students to embark upon their own paths to success.

An expert in his field, Dr. Tietjen pursued an education at the University of Georgia, initially earning a Bachelor of Science. He concluded his studies at the University of Tennessee, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy. In order to remain aware of changes in the industry, Dr. Tietjen is affiliated with such organizations as the Georgia Entomological Society, the Georgia Lakes Management Society, the Entomological Society of America and the Ecological Society of America.

During his spare time, Dr. Tietjen has dedicated his efforts to charitable and community activities through the Sumter County Board of Education and the Georgia Museum of Natural History. For his professional accomplishments, he has been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Looking toward the future, Dr. Tietjen intends to continue parlaying his knowledge of the field to others through his role as professor emeritus.
