Olga de Jong Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. de Jong has been a lecturer with the ISW Business School Freiburg since 1997. During this time, she served as the principal of the American School Macedonia in 1999. Prior to obtaining these roles, she was a socioeconomic and environmental assessment consultant for GOPA Consultants and others preparing baseline surveys for Uganda, and Cameroon from 1994 to 1995, a computer consultant with Black & Veatch in 1994 in Zambia, and a sociological consultant with GITEC Consulting in 1992 in Uganda.

From 1988 to 1990, Dr. de Jong excelled as a field representative for the University of Maryland in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. From 1984 to 1990, she held the position of educational consultant with Dhahran Ahliya Schools in Dhahran Saudi Arabia and as a consultant for the Al Khaligia Company. Earlier in her career, Dr. de Jong excelled as the principal of the Arab Unity School from 1979 to 1981 in Dubai, UAE and as a documentalist with Tetra Tech International from 1976 to 1979 in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

Dr. de Jong began her career as a student at the University of Arizona, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in business administration in 1966. She continued her studies at the University of Tennessee, completing a Master of Science in foreign language education in 1974. She subsequently returned to the University of Arizona, where she earned a Doctor of Philosophy in educational administration in 1986. Dr. de Jong is certified as a high school principal and secondary school teacher in the state of Arizona.

Dr. de Jong was born on December 16, 1942 in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. Her family played a prominent role in the educational sector of Nogales as illustrated by the fact that both parents undertook leadership positions in the local education sector. Her father, Prof. Alfonso Acosta, opened in 1930 the first college preparatory school in northern Mexico and 9th in the whole country together with an adventurous group of colleagues including her mother, Viola Acosta.

In 1953, the same group of teachers and her parents opened the second school to train teachers in the State of Sonora. Her father headed a Municipal committee in Nogales Sonora to construct schools for K-6th grades. All of Ms. de Jong's family were involved in making the schools successful and worked very hard in cultivating good values for students to act on. Her sisters, Dr. Irma Allen and Charli Nicholson also made their careers in education. In recognition of his desire to learn, the city of Nogales, Sonora named the only library in the city after her father.

Her parents and all three daughters acquired graduate degrees from universities in the United States or Mexico. Dr. de Jong is married to Prof. Dr. Remy L. A. de Jong. Llb. a great partner who provided a broad vision of world events.

Similarly, the children of Drs. de Jong, Cristina and Michelle, have successfully completed graduate studies in mathematics and electrical engineering.

Dr. de Jong has actively participated in the economic development activities of her husband in more than 35 countries, contributing an educational and socioeconomic perspective to the legal and engineering activities of her husband, and having been very lucky to meet many great educators in many countries on her way that provided additional reinforcement to the importance of education.

A respected voice in the field, Dr. de Jong has been affiliated with numerous organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She is a member of Phi Lambda Theta and Phi Delta Kappa. Furthermore, Dr. de Jong has been featured in multiple editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World.
