James F. McAteer decided to seek a career in law after completing service with the U.S. Army, where he held the rank of captain from 1954 to 1958.

After completing coursework at Santa Clara University from 1948 to 1951, Mr. McAteer pursued an education at the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor's degree in 1953 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1954. Certified by the Supreme Court of the United States as well as the Washington State Bar Association, he has worked as a partner at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt since 1986. Before attaining this position, Mr. McAteer excelled as a partner with Lenihan, Ivers & McAteer from 1962 to 1986, and an assistant to the U.S. attorney for the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington from 1958 to 1962.

Now celebrated for his professional excellence, Mr. McAteer decided to seek a career in law after completing service with the U.S. Army, where he held the rank of captain from 1954 to 1958. Likewise, he gained expertise with trial work as a public prosecutor as he established his skill in the legal arena. Mr. McAteer's notable successes include a case where he received a judgment of three and a half million dollars, and he accredits much of his prosperity to his client base.

Demonstrating an aptitude for the written word, Mr. McAteer was a contributor to the Washington University Law Review from 1953 to 1954. Interested in industry developments, he maintains membership with such professionally-relevant organizations as the Washington State Bar Association and the Seattle-King County Bar Association. Mr. McAteer's interests extend to athletic organizations as well, and he is affiliated with the Central Park Tennis Club.
