With more than 30 years of professional experience, Ms. Sprecher has held a number of positions with the Department of Veterans Affairs since 1990. She is currently a national bereavement counseling coordinator, having been associate regional manager of counseling from 2006 to 2017, and clinical administrator and veteran center director from 2002 to 2006. Earlier in her career, Ms. Sprecher was assistant regional manager of contracts for the mid-Atlantic states from 1991 to 2002 and a social worker for the drug dependency treatment program at the Veterans Affairs Maryland Health Care System in Baltimore from 1990 to 1991.

Ms. Sprecher began her career as a student, obtaining an Associate of Arts in mental health, magna cum laude, from the Community College of Baltimore County in Catonsville, Maryland in 1978. She then joined Towson State University in Towson, Maryland, completing a Bachelor of Science in clinical psychology, magna cum laude, in 1980. She continued her studies with the University of Maryland, earning a Master of Social Work, cum laude, in 1982. She has also completed postgraduate coursework in special education at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and coursework in art therapy at Goucher College in Baltimore. Ms. Sprecher is a graduate of the Integrated Awareness Technique and is licensed in social work in the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia. She also holds a diplomat in clinical social work from the National Association of Social Workers.

A respected leader in the field, Ms. Sprecher has held a number of leadership positions in her community. She worked as a civilian social worker with the United States Air Force from 1984 to 1990, serving in several capacities, including chief of mental health services at Bolling Air Force Base from 1986 to 1990 and as a social worker with electronics security command at Fort Meade. Furthermore, Ms. Sprecher served as a volunteer disaster mental health worker for the American Red Cross from 1994 to 2004, responding to local and national disasters.

Throughout her career, Ms. Sprecher has been recognized for her many contributions to her field. Notably, she was recipient of a Recognition Award for Exceptional Volunteer Service for her work in flood disaster zones. In light of all her accomplishments, Ms. Sprecher has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in American Women.
