For nearly four decades, Dr. Lee has excelled in the field of engineering. When he first started in the field in the late 1960s, he joined Ford Motor Company as a product design engineer. From there, he focused his attention on education, working with Clarkson University as a research and teaching assistant, at the University of Michigan as a research and teaching assistant, and Wayne State University as an instructor before becoming a research associate with Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 1977. Over the years, he held a number of positions with the laboratory, including research staff member, group leader, program manager and leader and senior research staff member. Additionally, he has gained educational and engineering expertise through his roles with North Carolina State University and the Environment and Water Resources Institute. An expert in his field, Dr. Lee holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and a Master of Science in engineering science from Clarkson University, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy in applied mechanics from the University of Michigan. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he has maintained affiliation with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists. He is a registered professional engineer in Michigan and Tennessee.
In recognition of his excellence in the field, Dr. Lee has been honored with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Defense Logistics Agency of the United States Department of Defense and two Significant Event Awards from Lockheed Martin, in addition to features in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
Now in retirement, Dr. Lee continues to serve his community through the Boy Scouts of America, where he serves on the council executive board and council executive committee as vice president. He has served as Scoutmaster, Council Commissioner, and Order of the Arrow Lodge Adviser and Section Adviser. Previously, he lent his time and energy to the Loudon County Task Force on Education, and the First Farragut United Methodist Church. Looking toward the future, Dr. Lee intends to continue giving back to his community while enjoying his well-deserved retirement.
