An accomplished listee, Dr. Ereshefsky celebrates many years of experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Ereshefsky has served as a psychopharmacology clinical trials consultant of the Pro Science Research Group since 2008, also serving as chief scientific officer and owner of Follow The Molecule: CNS Consulting, LLC, since 2016 and chief scientific officer of early phase development of the Hassan Research Institute since 2017. In addition to his work in the drug development field, Dr. Ereshefsky has lent his expertise to a number of pioneering clinical and academic roles. He was a professor and program director of pharmacy at the University of Texas from 1989 to 2003, having been associate professor from 1982 to 1988, assistant professor from 1977 to 1982, and chair of postdoctoral training from 1990 to 2003. Earlier in his career, Dr. Ereshefsky was a clinical instructor with the University of Southern California and clinical pharmacist for primary care at Metropolitan State Hospital/LA County-USC Medical Center from 1976 to 1977, and a research assistant with the University of California, Los Angeles, from 1970 to 1973. Throughout these years he expanded the role of Psychiatric Clinical Pharmacist including primary patient care roles and as one of the first successful clinical pharmacists to receive peer-reviewed support for his research (NIH, ASHP, ACCP, Foundations, DARPA).

As to why he chose a career in the field of psychiatric pharmacy Dr. Ereshefsky explained that he has always been interested in science. He also knew that he was a natural therapist; friends came to him with their problems, and he identified with caring for people. At UCLA where he majored in psychobiology, he found out about a program for clinical scientists who were comfortable both at the bedside and in the laboratory, and that was the deciding factor for him. He continued his studies with the University of Southern California, where he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy in clinical pharmacy and psychopharmacology in 1976. He completed a psychopharmacy Residency at LA County USC Medical Center. Dr. Ereshefsky is board certified in psychiatric pharmacy by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.

Dr. Ereshefsky is a recognized clinical trialist and consultant to the pharmaceutical industry on the development of new drugs for the treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders. Over the years of his career his research efforts significantly contributed to the development and optimal use of numerous long acting injectable antipsychotics, including Haloperidol Decanoate, Risperidone Consta, Paliperidone Palmitate, Aripiprazole LAI, and others. He was a lead investigator for the development of clozapine, the first atypical antipsychotic, and while at the University of Texas in his role as clinical psychopharmacologist for the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation had several hundred patients on compassionate use medication. He continued as a leader in research to develop many additional atypical antipsychotics now on the market. He was one of the first to research and advise on the clinical ramifications of drug drug interactions especially those involving the Cytochrome P450 system. He also was among the first to document how cigarette smoking accelerated the drug metabolism of many psychotic medications.

Dr. Ereshefsky has been a lead investigator in many early development studies for treatments for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, including the development of biomarkers to demonstrate drug effect in the brain via continuous cerebral spinal fluid sampling.

Dr. Ereshefsky as preceptor of the psychopharm residency program of the University of Texas had mentored more than 50 post-doctoral residents and 15 post-doctoral fellows. May went on to be international leaders in their field including Deans at colleges of pharmacy, or in drug development roles in the pharmaceutical industry, or to serve at NIH and FDA as researchers. He was twice appointed to the FDA Psychopharmacologic Drugs Advisory Committee and to the USP Psychiatry Panel for 15 years.

Throughout his career, Dr. Ereshefsky has been recognized for his contributions, including with the Robert G. Leonard Memorial Lecturer Award from The Texas Society of Health System Pharmacists. He also received a Teaching Award from the Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center Outpatient Psychiatric Department.

He was selected as Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and was the co-founder of the College of Psychiatric and Neurological Pharmacists, the leading professional group in the field. His publications and presentations to the clinical community helped to bring awareness that improved health care and supported the concept of precision medicine.

Dr. Ereshefsky is particularly proud of his sponsorship of many high school students to participate in the International Science and Engineering fair (ISEF). He has three high school students finish as the top of the category or as runner up to the top honors, all receiving college scholarships.

The highlight of his career was receiving the Judy J. Saklad Memorial Award from the College of Psychiatric and Neurological Pharmacists. Judy was one of his students. She developed pancreatic cancer, but she kept working through it and loved her patients. She kept teaching through five
heroic years. The award reflects the passion for teaching and caring for patients that define him.
