GAINESVILLE, FL, January 22, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Harold Arthur Linden with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Linden celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Before establishing himself as a trusted professional, Mr. Linden obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the City College of New York (CCNY) in 1964, where he was pledge master of Kappa Phi Omega in 1960 and president from 1961 to 1964. He then earned a Master of Arts in design from The City University of New York (CUNY) in 1967, where he studied under William Spinker and Arthur Nelson. The second person to earn a master's degree through CUNY's program, he wrote his master's thesis entitled "Furniture Designs of Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe and their Influence on Subsequent Designers." He has drawn upon Van Der Rohe's influence in some of his own designs, such as his circular sofa. His interest in interior design synthesized his professional strengths, combining elements of psychology, engineering and art.

Utilizing his extensive educational background, Mr. Linden has contributed to society in a number of ways. While he was still studying at CCNY, he successfully renovated the bathroom in his parents' home, raising the sink above the industry norm by four inches in order to prevent backaches while shaving. The following year, he joined Samson Berman and Associates and became the lead designer within one year. After graduating from CUNY, he became a merchandising manager of the International Home, Park Avenue South in New York City. He also managed furniture showrooms in Boston, Roslyn, and Los Angeles, which were all signed The International Home. He created advertising for weekly ads in The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the Boston Herald.

In 1969, Mr. Linden designed a clothing showroom for Viceroy Sportswear, the first designer jeans company. In order to keep the focus on the clothing, he chose a neutral gray color. This showroom became one of the busiest in the building and soon after, he was approached to design and build an office floor in a more upscale building. Two years later, he designed the executive offices for KLM Metals Corp. on Long Island. In the middle of the office, he executed an original design for a circular desk which would be used by the president of Viceroy Sportswear and the director of KLM Metals Corp.

Satisfied with the work Mr. Linden completed there, the president of KLM Metals hired him again to supervise the design and construction of a ranch house in Oyster Bay Cove on Long Island. Notably, his designed combined the living room, dining room, and den into one massive room with dropped floor heights and raised ceilings. The builder was so pleased, that he placed the floor plans in the center section of the Sunday Newspaper and advertised "Come See Long Island's First Great Room."

In 1975, Mr. Linden agreed to design a new building for the Commack Motor Inn on Long Island, where his rooms were booked day and night. After this, he moved to another motel in Connecticut for a complete renovation. Three years later, he purchased an English Tudor townhouse near Forest Hills Gardens, where he plans to live forever. He had to rebuild everything, including four floors, five bedrooms, and three staircases, as well as mechanical and electrical systems. This endeavor extended over 22 years.

Notably, Mr. Linden was approached by people who had seen his work in New York and wanted him to renovate a house in Ithaca, NY. After completing this upgrade for the realtor, he began completing more residential and commercial projects over the following 35 years, including a shoe store, a travel agency, and a realtor's office complex. He considers his greatest achievement to be working on the 12500 square foot mansion on Cayuga Lake. Following the renovations, the location became popular among tourists who would boat on the lake.

In addition to his primary endeavors, Mr. Linden has also worked as design consultant with Forecast Furniture, Inc., Charlton & Company and CBT Architects, along with co-designing The Stonybrook House, the first mortarless masonry home in the United States. Mr. Linden has been honored in numerous notable publications, including several editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the East.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Mr. Linden has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
