Lydia Okumura Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Lydia Okumura has been recognized many times, earning the Sao Paulo International Biennial Prize, the Creative Artists Public Service Grant and a Japan Foundation Fellowship.

An accomplished listee, Ms. Okumura celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. A native of São Paulo, Brazil, Ms. Okumura was involved in art competitions from a formative age. She obtained permits through institutions to use their walls and floors with the promise of returning them to their original states. Through hard work and determination, she showed with Broadway 1620 Gallery, a New York City art gallery, in 2014, and subsequently had retrospective shows in the United States. Over the years, she has exhibited her work in solo exhibitions at Varanda Galeria de Arte, Nobè Gallery, Cayman Gallery, Utsubo Gallery, Museu de Arte da Pinacoteca do Estado, Kate Art Gallery and Galeria São Paulo. More recently, she exhibited her work "Situations" at Signum Foundation Gallery, Foksal Gallery, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Shaw Gallery, Jacqueline Martins Gallerie, and Thaddeus Ropac Gallery. Additionally, she has participated in group shows for Pratt Institute, Sande Webster Gallery, the National Museum of Art in Osaka, A.I.R. Gallery and Museu da Casa Brasileira, and is represented in permanent collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Hara Museum of Contemporary Artand the Museo Reina Sofia in Spain.

A postgraduate student with the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, Ms. Okumura holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado. For her outstanding accomplishments, she has been recognized many times, earning the Sao Paulo International Biennial Prize, the Creative Artists Public Service Grant and a Japan Foundation Fellowship. In a career filled with highlights, she has a number of works that stand out among the rest, including "Labyrinth," a 1984 spiral installation made of mesh, and "In Front of Light," an installation made from glass, string, graphite and wood that explores the relationship between light and space. Looking ahead, Ms. Okumura intends to experience the continued success of her career.
