Dominic Palumbo Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

For more than 35 years, Dr. Palumbo has excelled in the field of engineering, working with a number of companies, including Fairchild Republic as both research engineer and group leader. Over the years, he has found success through his work with Grumman Aerospace Corporation as a program manager and deputy director for aircraft design, and AAI Corporation, where he held roles of increasing responsibility. Since formally retiring, Dr. Palumbo consults for various aerospace companies and also teaches aircraft design, a two-semester senior capstone course, at the University of Maryland.

Dr. Palumbo served on the A10A, T46 and SF340 design teams while working at Fairchild Republic Company. At Grumman Aerospace Corporation he was responsible for advanced fighter design initiatives on the U.S. Air Force stealth fighter program. His contributions at AAI Corporation include complete redesign of the U.S. Navy RQ-2 Pioneer unmanned air vehicle and design of the U.S. Army's RQ-7B Tactical unmanned air vehicle (TUAV) as well as many other developmental and experimental unmanned air vehicles. The RQ-2 and RQ-7B UAVs are currently on display in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. He takes great pride in the fact that the A10 and the TUAV systems exhibited stellar performance during both Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, saving the lives of many American soldiers. Dr. Palumbo is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International.

An expert in his field, Dr. Palumbo initially earned a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering, a Master of Science in astronautics and a Doctor of Philosophy in aeronautics and astronautics from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn (now known as the New York University Tandon School of Engineering). Due to his industry excellence, he obtained the AUVSI Pioneer Award, as well as two President Awards for Innovation. Looking toward the future, Dr. Palumbo intends to continue parlaying his knowledge of the field to others through his current role.
