Dennis Edward Navrat (Den Navrat) Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    BURBANK, SD, January 23, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dennis Navrat with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Navrat celebrates over a half century experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Retired since 2005, Mr. Navrat most recently taught undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of South Dakota as a chairman and an art professor. Prior to these appointments, he excelled at Dickinson State University as an art instructor, an assistant art professor, a chairman, an associate professor, and an art professor. Mr. Navrat began his career as an art instructor at the Institute of Logopedics from 1965 to 1966.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Navrat initially earned a Bachelor of Arts from Kansas State University in 1964. He continued his studies with a Master of Fine Arts from Wichita State University in 1966, and additionally at the University of Iowa, completing postgraduate coursework in 1969. Married in 1962 to Sue Ellen (Summervill) Navrat, he acknowledges her continuous encouragement in forming his life journey.

Among many accomplishments, Mr. Navrat served as a director of the North Dakota Council on the Arts for fifteen years (appointed by three different Governors of North Dakota), a lecturer at the Southport College of Art in England from 1976 to 1977, a consultant with the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies in 1981, and from 2000-2010 as a visiting evaluator for the National Association of Schools of Art and Design to many colleges and universities in the southeastern United States. He established the Mind's Eye Gallery at DSU in 1968, and served as director from 1972 to 1989. Professor Navrat also established a chapter of Delta Phi Delta Art Honorary at DSU, and led annual art student tours to major cities in the USA. Passionate about arts advocacy and bringing art to rural communities, Mr. Navrat was a founder of the Badlands Art Association in North Dakota earlier in his career, and also a founder of the Vermillion Area Arts Council.

Passionate about traveling and learning about the world, Mr. Navrat notably accepted a Fulbright Scholarship in the United Kingdom as well as earning multiple travel and research grants from USD and the Governor of South Dakota. He served as a visiting artist and art adjudicator at numerous colleges and institutions. His artwork has been featured in over 400 exhibitions and international art galleries, including shows at the American Embassy in Senegal, and an international award-winning solo exhibition of Paper Art in Chicago. Mr. Navrat has additionally dedicated his efforts toward promoting his original photography and art on social media and volunteering with arts-related community service programs.

Mr. Navrat is an AMM Minister, a member of The American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and has been a member of AAUP, The Fulbright Association, the North Dakota Council on the Arts, the North Dakota Art Gallery Association, the Dickinson Arts Council, the Badlands Art Association, and the Vermillion Area Arts Council, among other organizations. Due to his exceptional undertakings in his industry, Mr. Navrat was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Art, and Who's Who in the Midwest.
