After beginning her career as an assistant lecturer at East China Normal University from 1974 to 1976, Dr. Bao later served this esteemed academic institution as a lecturer of English education, an instructor teaching English on Radio Shanghai, and the associate dean of international affairs. Since 1992, she has excelled as an assistant professor at Dakota Wesleyan University and an education professor at Shippensburg University, where she remains to this day. In addition to her primary academic positions, Dr. Bao has found success at East China Normal University as an advisory professor as well as a research consultant.
Dr. Bao's professional background also encompasses work as a culture consultant with Grove Worldwide, an education consultant with Voice of America and a visiting scholar at Manchester University in Britain. Dedicated to her community, she worked as a coordinating board member for the Philadelphia Urban Seminar from 2004 to 2011, an Education consultant for Chinese schools in Rockville, Maryland, from 1995 to 1998, and the founding president of the East China Normal University Alumni Association of America from 1993 to 2006. Dr. Bao has held membership in multiple professional organizations, which include the International Educational Council, Phi Delta Kappa International and International Association of Technology and Teacher Education.
Dr. Bao's notable awards and recognitions include the Pennsylvania Urban Education Leadership Award from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education in 2008, the Paper Award from the United States-China Anniversary Forum in 2008 and the Serving Award from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in 1992. She has also been the recipient of numerous scholarships and grants. Due to her extensive field-related accomplishments, Dr. Bao has been honored in such publications as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in the World.
