A patent, trademark and copyright attorney with nearly 50 years of experience, Dr. Behr officially retired in 2015, having most recently worked as counsel for The Behr Office in Edison, NJ. Prior to his work with The Behr Office, he served as counsel for Selitto, Behr & Kim in Metuchen, NJ from 2000 to 2003. Dr. Behr previously founded Behr and Woodbridge and subsequently Behr and Adams in the state of New Jersey between 1974 and 2000.

Among his representative clients were Research Corporation, Nobel Laurate Andrew V. Schally, Karl Meyer Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH., Magla Products, Bactex, Inc.; Europeptides, S.A.; Fresenius, A.G.; Jacobus Pharmaceutical Company LigoChem Inc.; Link Laboratories Inc.; Fujimoto Chemical Company; Nippon Shokubai K.K. Co., Ltd.; Yu Kong Chemical Co.; as well as Rutgers University, Tulane University and Miami University.

Between 1967 and 1968, Dr. Behr held the position of associate attorney at Ostrolenk, Faber Gerb & Soffen, a firm in New York City. Likewise, he was a patent trainee, agent and attorney for Merck & Company in Rahway, NJ from 1963 to 1967. Before earning his law degree, Dr. Behr began his career as a research chemist for the U.S. Rubber Company Inc. in Wayne, NJ from 1961 to 1963.

Dr. Behr has been active as an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and is a former Honorary Secretary of its U.S. Section. He has maintained involvement with the American Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, the Middlesex County Bar Association, the International Federation of Counsels in Industrial Property and the American Industrial Property Law Association. Authoring multiple articles for peer-reviewed journals in his area of expertise, Dr. Behr was also responsible for co-inventing a new, acid-free, environmentally safe graphic etching process alongside his wife, Marion Behr, (US Patents 5,102,520 Electrolytic etching process and apparatus and 5,112,453, Method and apparatus for producing etched plates for graphic printing, the former was recognized as Patent of the Week by The New York Times in May 1992).

He was also active as a lecturer for licensing seminars for the U.S. Department of Energy, Dr. Behr was also appointed to the Edison Township Rent Control Board. A New Jersey delegate for the White House Conferences on Small Business, he found success as a moderator for the New Jersey Governor's Convention for Small Businesses. Furthermore, he held numerous roles with the National Home Based Business Association, the New Jersey Small Business Development Centers, and other local organizations. Presented with an arts and humanities grant by the Charles E. Lindbergh Fund between 1993 and 1994, Dr. Behr has since been featured in many editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World.

Highly educated, Dr. Behr first earned a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry with honors in 1956 at the University of Oxford. He continued his studies at the University of Oxford with a Bachelor of Science in organic chemistry in 1958 and Master of Arts in chemistry in 1960. Following these accomplishments, he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in organic chemistry at the University of Glasgow in 1961 and completed a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University between 1960 to 1961. Dr. Behr concluded his academic efforts at Seton Hall University, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1966.

Dr. Behr has prosecuted applications in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office since 1966. He has been admitted to practice by the Supreme Courts of New Jersey and New York, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. Dr. Behr has additionally garnered the designations of a Chartered Chemist in the United Kingdom and European Chemist and Scientist in the United Kingdom in 2004.
