Prior to obtaining these roles, she was an English teacher and AVID coordinator for Southwest Middle School n San Diego, CA, from 1999 to 2006.

Ms. Capehart began her career as a student at San Diego State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in applied arts and sciences in 1987. She later returned to her studies with National University, earning a Master of Arts in teaching in 2005. Ms. Capehart is certified as a teacher in the state of California.

A leading voice in her community, Ms. Capehart has been active with a number of organizations. She is a member of the National Education Association, the California Teachers Association, and the National Council of Teachers of English.

Throughout her career, Ms. Capehart has been recognized for her contributions. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
