Diane Jacobs Celebrates Five Decades of Practiced Excellence in Microbiology

Diane Jacobs has been recognized as professor emerita of the University of Central Florida College of Medicine since 2008.

    WINTER PARK, FL, February 05, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Diane Jacobs has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Jacobs has been recognized as professor emerita of the University of Central Florida College of Medicine since 2008. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a professor with the University of Central Florida from 1994 to 2016, also holding the posts of chair of the department of health professions from 2002 to 2008 and the vice president of research and graduate studies from 1994 to 1998. Dr. Jacobs served as a professor with the State University of New York from 1980 to 1989 and as an associate professor from 1976 to 1980.

Prior to these appointments, Dr. Jacobs excelled as a research associate with the Salk Institute of Biological Studies from 1974 to 1976. She began her career as an instructor and lecturer at the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School from 1967 to 1971. Previously, she pursued an education at Radcliffe College, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1961. Dr. Jacobs concluded her studies at Harvard University, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in 1966.

In addition to her primary responsibilities, Dr. Jacobs found success on the board of directors of the Central Florida Innovation Corporation, as well as a reviewer for the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. A fellow of the Association of Schools Allied Health Professions, she is a member of the American Association of Immunologists, the American Society of Microbiology, the New York Academy of Sciences, and the Association of Women Scientists. She has been further affiliated with the Oak Ridge Association of Universities, the Council of Graduate Schools, and the Conference of Southern Georgia Graduate Schools. Throughout her career, Dr. Jacobs has been featured in numerous publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
