Dorothy Salem has been celebrated many times, accepting the Besse Award for Teaching Excellence from Cuyahoga Community College Foundation.

    INDEPENDENCE, OH, February 11, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dorothy Salem with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dorothy Salem celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. After accruing 40 years of practiced industry experience, Dr. Salem earned the designation of a professor emeritus for Cuyahoga Community College, where she previously worked as a professor of social science and history. Earlier in her career, she served Cleveland State University as a teaching assistant in history. Dr. Salem utilized her expertise as a consultant in multicultural curriculum and women's studies for Cleveland Public Schools. Over the years, she found much success in roles of increasing responsibility with Cuyahoga Community College and Cleveland State University, as well as Cleveland's Underground Railroad. She has served on the advisory board for the Displaced Homemakers Network.

An expert in her field, Dr. Salem initially earned an Associate of Science from Cuyahoga Community College. She continued her studies with Cleveland State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts. Dr. Salem concluded her academic efforts with a Doctor of Philosophy and certification in instructional design from Kent State University.

In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Salem is affiliated with the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges, the American Association of University Women, the American Historical Association, the Ohio Academy of History, the Southern Association of Women Historians, the Association of Black Women Historians and the National Women's Studies Association. During her spare time, she contributes as an educational outreach director for the Woodland Cemetery Foundation. With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, Dr. Salem authored "To Better Our World" and "The Journey" and edited "African American Women, A Biographical Dictionary."

For her professional excellence, Dr. Salem has been celebrated many times, accepting the Besse Award for Teaching Excellence from Cuyahoga Community College Foundation and the National Teaching Excellence Award from the National Institute of Staff and Organization Development. She was further recognized as the Ohio Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation. Looking toward the future, Dr. Salem intends to continue parlaying her knowledge of the field to others through her role as professor emeritus, while giving back to those in need.
