He is a graduate of Harvard College, B.A., 1961; the Harvard Graduate School of Education, M.Ed. in Counseling, 1966; and the University of Texas Department of Educational Psychology, Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, 1970.

Previous to entering private practice, he was a consultant to Central Texas public schools, an Assistant Professor of intergroup relations (MSU), a Texas school desegregation consultant, a director of an out-of-school youth service agency, a director of a college student based informational research service, and a counselor in a public junior high school.

He is married with 4 adult children and 4 grandchildren.
