ODENVILLE, AL, February 11, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Charles Thomas Workman, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Workman celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Workman is a professor emeritus of English at Samford University, a private, Baptist institution located in Birmingham, AL. Hired as a faculty member in 1967, he also chaired the department between 1982 and 1993. He formerly taught English and German at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA, between 1962 and 1964.

The author of the 2016 book God Alive in the Living Wonders of Time and Humanity: A Modern Allegory: Voices of Reason, Faith and Vision, Dr. Workman's book is a fictional sounding of the multiple voices of human consciousness exploring the languages of Biblical truths in our age of scientific and electronic truths. A huge accomplishment for him, Dr. Workman had begun thinking about the contents of the book more than 20 years ago when he was in college. Inspired by spiritual means, he noted that the book includes his many feelings, sensibilities, emotions and inspirations within its contents. Drawn to poetic expression, he also authored the 2018 book The Past Alive in the Living Wonders of Poetic Vision: The Voices of Tennyson's Poetry, which is an overview of faith convictions in the body and poetic soul of Tennyson's major poetry. Recognizing in the person and life of his wife a story of life's strong fulfillment overmounting a childhood and youth of terrible tribulations, they together have published a dramatic biography: Edna's Story: Up Out of the Ashes of Anguish, 2019.

Dr. Workman was the former president of the Alabama Creative Writers Conclave in Birmingham between 1969 and 1971. A Sunday school teacher for 50 years, Dr. Workman also served his local community as a judge for the Home School Regional Consortium and as a question writer for the State High School Academic Competition.

The recipient of a 2005 Teaching Award from the School of Arts and Sciences at Samford University, Dr. Workman has also been cited in every edition of Who's Who in America since 2009. He has notably held a Doctor of Philosophy from Tulane University since 1967.

Married for more than 50 years to his wife Edna Smith Walker, Dr. Workman and she share one son, Charles Edward Workman, who works in world languages. Charles and Edna are also blessed with the presence and promises of a grandson, Ethan Charles Workman. In his free time, Dr. Workman enjoys reading and writing. He also likes to do home repairs and go fishing.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Charles Thomas Workman, Ph.D., has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
