Walter Lipke Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Walter Lipke received the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers/Software Engineering Institute Award for Software Process Achievement in 1999.

An accomplished listee, Mr. Lipke celebrates many years of experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. With 15 years of professional experience, Mr. Lipke excelled as a deputy division chief of the software division at Tinker Air Force Base from 1990 to 2005. Likewise, he is a member of the Project Management Institute, Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Pi Sigma. He also served as a reviewer for five refereed journals. Outside of his primary endeavors, he began an initiative to create and subsequently administer the higher education scholarship program for his church.

Mr. Lipke's greatest contribution has been project management with the creation of Earned Schedule (ES). ES has facilitated project schedule management using Earned Value Management (EVM) data. The ES method has propagated globally and is used in project management practice for all types of projects. It is included in textbooks, college coursework, as well as National Defense Industrial Association and Project Management Institute PMI) standards and practice guides. Significantly, the International Standards Organization standard for EVM includes the ES methodology. A trusted voice in the industry, he has presented internationally at several conferences and published extensively on ES with over 80 articles and his book, Earned Schedule.

Mr. Lipke initially pursued an education at the University of Tulsa, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in engineering physics in 1964. He later concluded his studies at Oklahoma State University, earning a Master of Science in physics in 1968. He is a graduate of the elite Department of Defense Program Management course, an intense five-month set of subjects covering all aspects of acquisition management for major weapons systems, such as the B-1 and B-2. Moreover, he is certified as a professional engineer in the state of Oklahoma.

Throughout his career, Mr. Lipke has been recognized for his contributions, including having received the Eric Jenett Project Management Excellence Award from PMI. He has been recognized as a fellow of the American Chemical Society and a scholar of the PMI Metrics Special Interest Group. He has also been recognized with the College of Performance Management Driessnack and the EVM Europe awards. Notably, Australia's Project Governance and Control Symposium has named an award in his honor, the Walt Lipke Project Governance and Control Excellence Award.

Mr. Lipke's most significant achievement during his career, as manager of the Software Division, was receiving the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers/Software Engineering Institute Award for Software Process Achievement in 1999. At the time, it was considered the most prestigious award for software organizations in the world. Additionally, Mr. Lipke has been selected for inclusion in numerous publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.
