Dr. Carol A. Nicholeris is a professor of music, composer and conductor who has been teaching at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts since 1988.

Dr. Nicholeris is a professor of music, composer and conductor who has been teaching at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts since 1988. Teaching music composition and general studies, she has been a faculty member in the music department since 1998. For 10 years prior to accepting the position in the university's music department, Dr. Nicholeris was an assistant professor of elementary music education at the university's Martha Burnell Elementary Laboratory School where she instituted, maintained, and modeled her original Eclectic General Music Education curriculum for grades K-6. She is a recipient of several of the university's awards for Academic Excellence. Previous to her positions at Bridgewater State University, Dr. Nicholeris held music teaching positions in area public schools including the Pembroke Campus of the Silver Lake Regional High School (grades 9-12), the Hingham Public Schools (grades K-6), and the Whitman Middle School (grades 6-8).

As a choral conductor, Dr. Nicholeris served as the Director of Music for the Bridgewater State University Alumni Chamber Choir from 2000 to 2018. She formerly served as the Music Director for the Braintree Choral Society from 1998 to 2001, and she was the Assistant Conductor of the Harbour Choral Arts Society of Hanover from 1988 to 1993. In the specialized field of church music, Dr. Nicholeris served as the Director of Music for the Hingham Congregational Church from 1976 until 1995.

Dr. Nicholeris is a published composer of music whose works are available through the ECS Publishing Group. In addition to her published works, Dr. Nicholeris has enjoyed performances of many other original works for chorus and for various other ensemble combinations including the 2014 world premiere of her Mass, "Ancestral Remembrances" for chorus, soloists, and symphony orchestra and her "Tarantella" for symphony orchestra in 1976.

Dr. Nicholeris is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. She is a longtime member of the National Education Association and she is a lifetime member of the American Choral Directors Association and Pi Kappa Lambda. Since 1991, she has been cited in numerous editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Entertainment, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who of American Women.

Dr. Nicholeris' involvement in music began in childhood as her parents encouraged all 4 of their children to study and participate in music experiences and activities. For many years, the entire family was heavily involved in civic drum and bugle corps activities at the local, regional, and national levels. In all, Dr. Nicholeris and two other siblings pursued professional careers in music.

Dr. Nicholeris has notably earned several degrees in music including a Bachelor of Music from Boston University in 1977, the Master of Arts in Teaching from Bridgewater State University in 1983, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Education Administration from Bridgewater State University in 1991, and the Doctor of Musical Arts from Boston University in 1997. She has held certifications as music specialist and as a supervisor and director of music education. Dr. Nicholeris' research interests have been focused on music philosophy, physics, and applications of brain research in music education methodology and curriculum design.

In addition to her work as a professional musician, Dr. Nicholeris enjoys hobbies such as hiking, fishing, mountaineering, and gardening. She is actively involved as amateur photographer specializing in landscapes and wildlife photography, and her works have gained recognition and awards through local media and contests during the past several years.
