The highlight of Dr. Robert D. Stock's career was the publication of his second book, "The Holy & the Daemonic from Browne to Blake" in 1982.

With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Stock most recently served as a professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1967 until attaining emeritus status in 2011. In addition to his primary role, he was the vice chair of the English department from 1987 to 1990. Prior to obtaining these positions, he was an associate professor with the university from 1972 to 1977. Earlier in his career, Dr. Stock was an assistant professor of English from 1967 to 1972.

Dr. Stock began his career as a student at Kent State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1963. He then joined Princeton University, completing a Master of Arts in 1965. He continued his studies with the university, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in 1967. Dr. Stock is a member of the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies, the Conference on Christianity and Literature, and Phi Beta Kappa, where he is an honorary member.

Demonstrating versatility in his field, Dr. Stock has contributed myriad articles to professional journals within his areas of expertise and was the former editor of "Johnson's Literary Criticism" in 1974. He is also the author of four books, most recently including "Flutes of Dionysus: Daemonic Enthrallment in Literature" in 1989. However, the highlight of his career was the publication of his second book, "The Holy & the Daemonic from Browne to Blake" in 1982. Princeton has recently reissued it in its Legacy series.

Throughout his career, Dr. Stock has been recognized for his achievements. The recipient of the College Award for Distinguished Teaching in 1995, he has also received five Parents and Teachers Council Awards between 1993 and 2005. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including the fourth and eighth editions of Who's Who in American Education and the 23rd edition of Who's Who in the Midwest.
