Sviatoslav A. Timashev, DSc, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by llarquis Who's Who

Dr. Timashev has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the fields of structural reliability, resilience, risk analysis, safety and governance of critical infrastructures, and higher education

FALLS CHURCH, VA, February 18, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Sviatoslav Timashev, D. Sc., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Timashev celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected based on current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.

A summa cum laude Ural Polytec graduate, Timashev is the founder of the well-known Ural school of scientific thought "safety of critical infrastructures and territories." His titles include Professor, Distinguished Scientist of Russia, Merited Educator of Russia, Principle Scientist and Scientific Director of the Science and Engineering Center" Reliability and Safety of Large Systems and Machines" Ural Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences, and Professor and Director of the Research Lab and Masters' Program "Safety technologies of critical infrastructures and territories," Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Ural Federal University. Since 2016 he also holds the position of a research professor in the department of engineering management and systems engineering at Batten College of Engineering and Technology at Old Dominion University. Timashev also serves as the chief executive officer of WEKT Inc. in Yekaterinburg. He's the former deputy director at the Institute of Machinery Science in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and is a certified federal expert in the field of science and technology. Prof. Timashev authored and co-authored 32 books and over peer-reviewed 500 papers, holds 16 patents in his field. He is a specialist in stochastic stability and dynamics, diagnostics, monitoring, maintenance, residual lifetime, reliability, resilience, safety, risk analysis and governance of interdependent critical infrastructures.

Timashev is fellow of the Washington Academy of Sciences, a member of the Russian Academy on Quality Problems, member of the Fulbright Academy of Science and Technologies, as well as member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Society for Risk Analysis (SRA) and several other professional societies.

S.A. Timashev is a founding member (1985) of the International Association for Structural Safety and Reliability (IASSAR). He is also a member of the work group that developed the API 1163 Standard on in-line inspection quality which is used by pipeline companies worldwide.

Prof. S. Timashev is editorial board member of numerous international journals, including "Emergency Situations and Safety Problems," "Machinery Science Problems and Reliability of Machines" (both Russia), "Structural Safety," "Critical Infrastructures" (both USA), "Condition Monitoring and Diagnostic Engineering Management" (UK), "Journal ofRisk Analysis and Crisis Reduction" (China). He also provides internationally consulting services and delivers intensive short courses on risk-based management of pipeline integrity and safety, and on in-line inspection data analysis for optimizing integrity management plans for pipeline specialists and engineers of more than 25 countries in Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America.

S.A. Timashev, as a member of the group of scientists of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, is a co-recipient of the collective Nobel Peace Prize of 2007 for developing methods and means of C02 sequestration from the earth's atmosphere and depositing it in deep rock formations and on deep ocean bed. Among his numerous awards are the State Medal "For Valorous Labor," Young Scientist of the Year Award from the USSR Science and Engineering Society; The Best Science monograph "Infrastructures, Part I. Reliability and Longevity" Publication of the Year (2016). Among the break-through scientific achievements of Dr. Timashev are: (1) discovery of new forms of buckling for stiffened shells of double curvature subject to a transverse distributed load; (2) fundamentally new method of solving the central problem of structural design: assessing reliability of multi-element systems in the space of loads that overcomes the curse of dimension, downsizing the dimension from the number of elements (up to thousands) to the number of loads (usually, 3-7); (3) reliability assessment method for unique structural systems (like telecommunication satellites) based on statistical data gathered during their manufacture and testing (4) a complex patented method of assessing the true sizes of pipeline defects using the in-line inspection and verification data, with accounting for their intrinsic measurement errors; (5) theory of monitoring unmeasurable parameters (reliability and residual life time) of operating structures; (6) method of optimal management of structures reliability by a two-or three-level policy by controlling stochastic processes of their degradation and renewal; (7) solution of the central problem of optimal predictive maintenance theory; (8) basics of structural resilience; (9) method of maximizing the increase of system safety with given amount of means by optimal selection of protection means; (10) theory of harmonized regional multilevel governance of interdependent critical infrastructures operation, based on average life expectancy and life quality index; (11) development of a new convergent science, named infranetics (infrastructures+cybernetics) based on MAlCS technology (Digital Mechanics, Artificial Intelligence, Cognitive and Social Sciences) that is being used to transform several municipalities and territories of Russia into resilient smart cities and regions. With a team of collaborators, Dr. Timashev designed three generations of industrial electronic and software systems of vibration protection, vibration diagnostics, tribodiagnostics and monitoring of oil and gas pipelines, energy machinery and heavy equipment. All these systems are successfully used in the Russian oil and gas industry, aviation, heavy engineering, metallurgy and other industries, as well as in urban development and university educational laboratories. Serving currently as the Lieutenant Grand Prior of the Order of Orthodox Knights of St. John (an UN-accredited NGO), Dr. Timashev is married to Shirley Ann Timashev and has one child. He has been showcased in more than a dozen editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World. In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Sviatoslav A. Timashev, has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website.
