With more than 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Michael C. Hudson excelled as a professor with the National University of Singapore from 2010 to 2014, during which time he held the post of director of the school's Middle East Institute. Dr. Hudson is Professor Emeritus at Georgetown University and a Visiting Scholar at the Issam Fares Institute of Public Policy and International Relations at the American University of Beirut. Prior to these roles, he worked as a professor and an associate professor with Georgetown University from 1975 to 2011, for which he also served as the director of the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies. At Georgetown he was appointed to an endowed chair as the Seif Ghobash Professor of Arab Studies and International Relations in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. He additionally held the positions of an associate professor at Johns Hopkins University from 1970 to 1975 and an assistant professor at Brooklyn College in the City University of New York system from 1964 to 1970. Previously, Dr. Hudson began his career an instructor at Swarthmore College from 1963 to 1964 and a teacher with the American Community School in Beirut, Lebanon from 1962 to 1963.

Dr. Hudson initially pursued an education at Swarthmore College, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, in 1959. He concluded his studies at Yale University, earning a Master of Arts in 1960 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1964. Moreover, Dr. Hudson has been certified in Arabic by Princeton University.

A leading voice in his community, Dr. Hudson has been affiliated with a number of esteemed organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. A fellow and the former president of the Middle East Studies Association of North America, he is a member of the Middle East Institute, the American Political Science Association, and the International Studies Association. Dr. Hudson has also been active with the Council on Foreign Relations, the American Institute of Yemeni Studies, and the American Academic Research Institute of Iraq.

Throughout his career, Dr. Hudson has been celebrated for his achievements. Eponymously honored with a Michael C. Hudson Medal from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, he has also accepted a Robert R. McCormick fellowship from Yale University, a fellowship from the Ford Foundation, a fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, and a Fulbright fellowship. Having received grants from American Philosophical Society, he was further recognized as a visiting scholar of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Likewise, Dr. Hudson has been featured in numerous publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in American Politics, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World.
