She also held various appointments at Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited since 1995. Furthermore, Dr. Bini is the owner and managing partner of Pooja pediatric Clinic in Kerala, India. She is also an independent consultant.
Throughout her career, Dr. Bini has given several international talks in the United States, Singapore, France, Hong Kong and Japan, as well as over a dozen seminars on a host of topics. Dr. Bini is a former member of the NUS Postgraduate Society, Singapore and the National Cadet Corps in India.
Dr. Bini has also authored numerous articles in scholarly journals with more than 650 citations and served as a peer reviewer for journals like Biomaterials, the Journal of Materials Science, the British Biotechnology Journal and Materials Sciences and Applications. In fact, one of her published papers went on to become the top 10 percent most downloaded papers of all time on the subject of Nanotechnology. She has also supervised engineering students in various projects.
Honored with Young Inventors Award in 2001 in the Asia-Pacific region, which was organized by Far Eastern Economic Review and Hewlett Packard, Dr. Bini has been interviewed on various news stations, including CNBC TV Hong Kong and Channel News Asia TV, on news radio such as 93.8 FM in Singapore, as well as in various newspapers and on websites for her contributions. Dr. Bini also achieved the Engineering Innovation Award of COE Week by Nanyang Technological University in 2005, a Best Exhibit Award for "Hot Forging of Sintered P/M Preforms" in 1995. Dr. Bini has also held a patent for medical guide tubes.
Dr. Bini earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Materials Science and Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2004. NUS is notably one of the top universities, ranked as the 11th university in the world and ranked first in Asia.
Dr. Bini has been the recipient of avocational prizes in both sports and painting competitions, including a City Level First Prize in the All India Camel Color Contest in 1987. Aerobics, cycling, painting and gardening are her free time interests.
Dr. Bini speaks English, Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil. Born in India, Dr. Bini later immigrated to Singapore and Kuwait. She is married to pediatrician Dr. R.S. Arunkumar MD, PhD and has one daughter Ms. Pooja A.B.
