Frances Jane Wirth Recognized as a Woman of Influence by Marquis Who's Who

Frances Jane Wirth is a prominent figure in the realm of child psychology

Utilizing more than 55 years of practiced industry experience, Ms. Wirth is a prominent figure in the realm of child psychology, wherein she has educated children struggling with intellectual disabilities, mental retardation, autism spectrum disorder and hearing impairments, as well as children from abusive and neglected homes. Commencing her career as an elementary education teacher for Decatur Public Schools in 1959, she served in the same position for River Trails School District 26 in Mount Prospect, Illinois, from 1961 to 1962. Ascending the ranks of success, Ms. Wirth subsequently acted as a teacher and research assistant for the Kephart Clinic for Autism at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, from 1962 to 1963 and a director of the graduate women's residence hall at Purdue University from 1962 to 1963.

Thereafter, Ms. Wirth held the role of guidance counselor for Community High School District 218 in Blue Island, Illinois, from 1963 to 1968, as well as a school psychologist for Cook County School District 130 from 1969 to 1971 and again from 1979 to 1993. During this time, she was also employed as an adult dance teacher in Orland Park and Oak Forest, Illinois, from 1972 to 1980. For the remainder of her career, Ms. Wirth served as a school psychologist for multiple school districts, including School District 89 in Melrose Park, Illinois, from 1993 to 1995 and Clark County School District from 1995 until her retirement from the industry in 2005.

During her tenure, Ms. Wirth has positively influenced thousands of children, which she cites as a primary motivation behind delving into her profession. From a young age, she has loved working with children, desiring to aid in their personal development and provide them with the means of living life courageously and ultimately progressing and succeeding in rising above their struggles.

In an effort to contribute to her local community, Ms. Wirth formerly participated and was instrumental in the Blue Island Evening Women's Club, American Association of University Women, the Palos Orland Swim Association, the C. Sandburg High School drug free graduation party and the Palos Village Players Community Theater. In the early 1970's, she participated in the development of the Blue Island Evening Women's Club for a Citywide Bike Path. In 2008, she was neighborhood chairperson for Books for American Troops in Action in Afghanistan and Eagle Locker for needy youth. Notably, Ms. Wirth has been the creator and leader of a neighborhood book discussion group since 2006. She was also the registrar for developing the new Robert Gilbert Livingston Chapter of the DAR, Georgetown, Texas.

In order to remain abreast of recent developments within the psychology and education industries, Ms. Wirth has maintained affiliation with numerous organizations, including the National Association of School Psychologists, the South Metropolitan School Psychologists Association, the Illinois School Psychologists Association, the American Association of University Women and Alpha Delta Kappa, the international honorary organization for women educators. The former president of the Blue Island Evening Women's Club, she also briefly served in the same capacity for the Assets Investment Club for a decade. In addition, Ms. Wirth was a former member of the Sun City Singers and longtime member of the Palos Orland Book Discussion Group of the American Association of University Women for 23 years.

As a testament to her success, Ms. Wirth has garnered several accolades and honors. Most recently presented with the A Plus Achievement Award from the Clark County School District in 2003 and 2005, she was also nominated for the Nurses Choice Award by the Nevada March of Dimes in 1999 and given the Distinguished Member Award by Alpha Delta Kappa in 2005. Mrs. Wirth is a National Certified School Psychologist. Much earlier in her career, she was honored with the USO Gold Star Award for 300 Hours of Volunteer Service in 1961. Likewise, Ms. Wirth has been highlighted in the 19th and 25th editions of Who's Who of American Women.

Married to Wallace L. Wirth since 1965, Ms. Wirth is the proud mother of two children, Charles Edward and Todd Lindsay. As a teenager in Decatur, IL, she taught about 1,000 young girls baron twirling at the local park districts. She now enjoys swimming, dancing and reading in her spare time. She is the recipient of a Bachelor of Science in education from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois, and Master of Science in education from Purdue University. Furthermore, Ms. Wirth completed comprehensive postgraduate coursework through Indiana State University and the University of Wisconsin in child psychology and genetics.
