Virginia Belk Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Virginia Belk has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the education industry



    ALBUQUERQUE, NM, February 28, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Virginia Hurt Belk with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Virginia Belk celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Born in 1937 to John Henry and Eunice Leona Hurt in Constantine, MI, Ms. Belk would become the principle and owner of Bridges to Learning, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After obtaining a degree in elementary education, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of New Mexico, and pledging Alpha Delta Kappa, Ms. Belk went on to become an elementary school teacher. She began her teaching career in 1959, where she taught in Window Rock, Arizona. She would continue her teaching career, educating pupils in Liberty, MO; Kansas City Public Schools, and after returning to Window Rock, AZ for 25 consecutive years and finally in Albuquerque Public Schools.

In addition to being an elementary school teacher, Ms. Belk was briefly a college instructor at Navajo Community College. From 1984 to 1985, she was a member of the Career Ladder Steering Committee of Window Rock, District 8., She was a test administrator for the Gessell Development Institute from 1985 to 1994. Around this time, she also became a consultant in multi-cultural education.

Not only was Ms. Belk an educator, but she also wrote several books on education, including "Beyond the 4D Perspective: The Pegasus Method." Beyond writing on the topic of education, she was also a member of the international Society of Poets and has contributed to professional journals. Furthermore, Ms. Belk has self- published several books of poetry, including "Glimpes," "Windows Into the Soul," and "Janus' Window."

Besides being an educator and writer, Ms. Belk is a wife and mother. She has also found time to devote to her church as a member of the choir. In addition, she was a lay reader and liturgist, as well as a member of the worship committee and a substitute food bank distributor. Ms. Belk is on track to serve a three- year term as a deacon in 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Ms. Belk's hobbies include dolls and dollhouses, reading, painting and poetry. She is a member of the National Education Association and the International Association of Cognitive Education. Additionally, Ms. Belk teaches English as a Second Language, for which she has been certified in the State of Arizona.
