Marlene Wiseman Jones Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    ZANESVILLE, OH, February 28, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Marlene Wiseman Jones with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Jones celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Ms. Jones is a retired elementary school teacher and reading specialist who taught in the Zanesville City Schools for 33 ½ years before retiring in 1997. While teaching at Zanesville, she was actively involved in the Title 1 Reading Program, which was designed for elementary school children with reading difficulties. Proud of how the participating students succeeded, she was glad to have been a part of the program for such a long time. She also briefly taught as a reading instructor at Ohio University in 1984 and Muskingum Area Technical College between 1991 and 1994 and worked part-time at Finley Fine Jewelry Company at Lazarus Department Store in 1999.

Early in her teaching career, Ms. Jones co-authored a book, "Diagnosis for Reading," which was published in 1975. She also created "Games for Reading" in 1973.

Ms. Jones is a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, member and former vice president and president of the Muskingum County Retired Teachers Association, and member and former legislative chairman of the Muskingum County Retired Teachers Association. Affiliated with several other organizations as well, some of these have included the American Legon Auxiliary, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Salvation Army, the Zanesville Women's Club, the National Association of Professional Women, thw National Women's History Museum, the Ladies Aid Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Zanesville Concert Association.

Involved in her locally community, Ms. Jones is a former vice president and vice president of the Y-City Women's Club, former president of the Brock Welding Golf League and longtime member of the junior assembly for Bethesda Hospital. She has also volunteered her time with the Zanesville Museum of Art.

Ms. Jones was nominated for the 2014 Muskingum County Caregiver of the Year Award and was the recipient of a 1973 Outstanding Elementary Teacher Award. She has been cited in more than 20 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who of American Women. She has held a Bachelor of Science in education from Muskingum University since 1962 and a Master in education from Ohio University since 1984. She completed 45 hours beyond her Master's Program.

Married to her late husband Herbert Pearce Jones for 54 years, Ms. Jones has since become more involved in reading, painting, crafts, gardening and playing bridge. She also loves to travel. She has visited every state in the United States and many foreign countries. She was fortunate to travel the Concorde to England and later back to the U.S. in 1997.
