Marvin Saltzman Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    CHAPEL HILL, NC, February 28, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Marvin Saltzman with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Saltzman celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Mr. Saltzman hailed from a family of artists first exhibiting in the 4th grade with a large mural painted on the back of a wallpaper roll. Saltzman served as a Sgt in the US Army in Korea 1960 to 1964. He has had solo exhibitions in such venues as the Ackland Museum, National Humanities Center, the French Embassy, Duke University, Kanazawa Museum and several commercial venues. Group exhibitions include The Wadsworth Atheneum, Pennsylvania Academy, Portland Art Museum, National Arts Club, and several university and commercial galleries. His work is represented by the Mahler Fine Arts, the Eno Gallery and Minta Bell Design Group in North Carolina. His work is found in the Smithsonian, The Library of Congress, the North Carolina Bar Association, National Institutes of Health and numerous public and private collections.

He served as an Associate and Full Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1966 to 1997. Saltzman functioned as Studio chair, chair of the Division of Fine Arts, acting chairman and on numerous university committees. From 1962 to 1966 he served on the faculty of Eastern Oregon University, University of Southern California and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. At Carolina he was the recipient of numerous Fellowships and research grants. In light of his exceptional undertakings in 1998 he was presented with the North Carolina Award, The State's Highest Civilian Honor and in 1998 the St. Andrews University Sam Ragan Award.

In 1964 he married Jacquelyn Friedman (d) and has children Paul and Leslie, grandchildren Melissa, Jennifer and Aaron and great-grandchildren Sophie and Dean.
