Prior to this role, he found success as the director of consulting services, solutions and cloud sales as well as the chief data scientist at the Oracle Corporation from 2012 to 2016. A native of Venezuela who immigrated to the United States in 1975, Mr. Marques served CGI as an executive consultant and a senior data scientist from 2010 to 2012, and the New York City Department of Education as the head of enterprise architecture, the senior director of information technology and a chief data architect from 2009 to 2010.

Previously, Mr. Marques held the positions of a principal consultant, a chief enterprise architect and a chief data architect at VoxXpress, Inc., from 2009 to 2009. Excelling as the chief technology officer, the chief architect and the senior director of enterprise architecture, security and risk management at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt from 2006 to 2008, he additionally was active as the vice president of enterprise architecture and design at Citigroup from 2004 to 2006. In addition to these prominent roles, he also maintained involvement with such corporations as the Guardian Life Insurance Company, Verizon, Business Transformation Design, IBM and Cognitive Systems in varying executive posts. He began his career in 1983 as a software development manager at Compu-Teach, Inc., in New Haven, CT, followed by posts as a project architect and a project manager at Ashton-Tate, Inc., in Westport, CT.

Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Marques developed 15 educational computer games based on artificial intelligence principles and designed and implemented 10 major enterprise software systems. He also obtained three United States patents on natural language processing and one United States patent on software architecture. The recipient of a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the Ohio State University, he has completed coursework in data science specialization at Johns Hopkins University and coursework in neural networks for machine learning through the University of Toronto. Impressively, Mr. Marques was the chief enterprise architect for a team of 150 people situated throughout the United States and India, having designed, architected and implemented Ally Bank, the first online bank in the United States, in only six months.

Attributing his success to his insatiable curiosity and diligent nature, Mr. Marques has garnered multiple accolades in recognition of his contributions to his industry. The recipient of the Innovation Challenge Award from the Guardian Life Insurance Company in 2018, he was presented with the HITEC 100 Award for Leadership as Executive Consultant by CGI in 2011, a Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Contribution by the Atlanta Paralympics Games Organization in 1996, the HCG Outstanding Technical Contribution Award in 1996, and the ComputerWorld/ObjectWorld Object Technology and Legacy Application Award in 1995. Accruing several more HITEC 100 Awards during his tenure, he was recognized among Top 200 Influential Hispanics in Technology by Hispanic Engineer & IT Magazine in 2010. Honored with the IBM Outstanding Technical Contribution Award, Mr. Marques was highlighted in the 25th edition of Who's Who in the East.
