With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Bjorklund was a history professor at Fullerton College from 1984 to 2014. Prior to obtaining this role, she was a teaching associate and assistant at the University of California, Irvine, from 1978 to 1984 and an instructor with Rancho Santiago Community College District from 1974 to 1984. Earlier in her career, she was an instructor at Saddleback College from 1973 to 1977 and Leeward Community College from 1971 to 1972.

Dr. Bjorklund attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in 1962, followed by a Master of Arts in 1964. She then served as leader of Fullerton College's first study abroad program in Cambridge, England in 1986. She conducted original research for her Ph.D. dissertation ("Matthew Parker and the Reform of the English Church") and then attended the University of California, Irvine where she earned a Doctor of Philosophy in 1987. In the summers of 1989 and 1990, she attended UCLA's Cambridge Program in England and in 1993, she attended Bloomsbury Summer School in London.

A respected voice in the industry, Dr. Bjorklund has been active with a number of professional organizations. She is a member of the Pacific Coast Conference on British Studies, the National Endowment for the Humanities, Phi Beta Kappa Alumni, and the Orange County Historical Society. The former chair of the board of higher education and campus ministries of the California-Pacific Conference of the United Methodist Church, she is the author of the publications "A Godly Wife is an Helper: Matthew Parker and the Defense of Clerical Marriage," 16th c. Journal (Feb. 2003) and "Parker's Purposes for his Manuscripts: Matthew Parker in the Context of his Early Career" in Old English Literature ed. Joyce Lionarons (2004).

Throughout her career, Dr. Bjorklund has been recognized for her contributions, including having been a grantee of the University of California, Irvine, in 1982, 1984 and 1985. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
