An expert in cyber security, he formerly served as a senior staff information assurance engineer, senior staff information systems analyst and senior staff disaster recovery specialist for the organization. He also worked directly for Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. as a telecommunications system engineering specialist, senior operations research analyst and operations research analyst for a total of 15 years beginning in 1982. Becoming involved in his field because he enjoyed the subject matter and technical content, Mr. Fenton enjoys the many challenges that are presented to him each day.
Involved with several professional organizations relative to his work, Mr. Fenton is active as a member of the Information Systems Security Association, the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, the International Association of Privacy Professionals, the Disaster Recovery Institute International and the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, among others. He is also a member and former Peninsula chapter treasurer, vice president of communications and vice president of programs for the Institute of Industrial Engineers. Mr. Fenton is currently on the steering committee of the University of California San Diego Northern California Alumni Association.
Enjoying the opportunity to serve his local community, Mr. Fenton has been active on the board of directors of the Palo Alto Family YMCA since 2015. He is a former member of the board of directors of the Page Mill YMCA, holding this role from 1998 to 2014. With his alma mater, the University of California at San Diego, Mr. Fenton is also on the board of the Alumni Association and the advisory board for athletics.
Mr. Fenton earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics at the University of California at San Diego in 1980. He then completed a Master of Arts in economics in 1981 and a Master of Science in operations research in 1982 at Stanford University in California, followed by Master of Business Administration in telecommunications at Golden Gate University in San Francisco in 1988. He is a certified information system security professional, information system security engineering professional, information system security management professional, information security manager, information privacy professional and business continuity professional. He is also certified in risk and information systems control. Mr. Fenton has been showcased in the 24th edition of Who's Who in the West for his dedication to the field.
Born in Los Angeles, Mr. Fenton enjoys spending his free time enjoying the good weather that sunny California has to offer. He particularly enjoys working in his garden and attending college football and basketball games. He also loves doing aerobics, reading and cooking.
