With more than 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Gidda has excelled as the head-in-charge of the crustacean fisheries division for the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute since 2018, having held the post of the head of the division since 2013. Prior to these roles, he worked as the scientist-in-charge of the Visakhapatnam Regional Center from 2009 to 2013 and a senior and principal scientist from 2007 to 2009. Earlier in his career, Dr. Gidda found success as a scientist and a senior scientist at the Mandapam Regional Center between 1986 and 2000.
Dr. Gidda initially pursued an education at Andhra University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in zoology, botany, and chemistry in 1978. He continued his studies a Master of Science in marine biology in 1982 at Karnataka University. He then returned to Andhra University, where he graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in zoology in 1991. Dr. Gidda concluded his academic efforts with Tulane University, completing postdoctoral coursework with the department of EEO biology in 1995.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gidda has been recognized for his contributions, including having been recognized as the Best Citizen of India in 2011. The recipient of a Bharat Jyoti Award (2011), Bharat Excellence Award-2016 and Gold Medal, RASHTRIYA GAURAV AWARD-2017, he was also presented with the Photon Research Award in 2014, the World Endocrinology Research Award in 2015, Charles Darwin Research Award in 2015, and the Thomas Edison Award from the Photon Foundation in 2013. Likewise, Dr. Gidda has been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who's Who in Asia, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.
