A partner at Jackson Walker LLP in Houston since 1990, he represents clients in the areas of oil and gas, oil and gas finance, commercial finance and loan restructuring. Nationally recognized for his expertise, Mr. Dunlap focuses his efforts on providing value to clients in complex financial transactions, having notably represented lenders and borrowers in billions of dollars of oil and gas financing transactions over the years.
Prior to his commitment at Jackson Walker, Mr. Dunlap was a partner at Dotson & Scofield in Houston from 1984 to 1990 and Foreman & Dyess in Houston from 1981 to 1984. He was also an associate attorney for Foreman, Dyess, Prewett, Rosenberg & Henderson in Houston from 1974 to 1981.
A lifetime fellow of the Houston Bar Association who is active in the oil, gas and mineral law section, Mr. Dunlap is also an elected fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. He is a longtime member and past chair of the oil, gas and energy resources law section of the State Bar of Texas and is Board Certified in oli, gas and mineral law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Over the past 30 years, Mr. Dunlap has been involved with various community organizations. Currently the chair and board of directors member of the Family Services Foundation, he was formerly active on the board of directors of Covenant House Texas, the Lord of the Streets Episcopal Mission and Family Houston. He also served on the vestry of St. Martin's Episcopal Church and was president of the board of directors of the Briargrove Parent Teacher Organization, among other roles.
Named to Best Lawyers in America, Who's Who in Energy by the Houston Business Journal, and Houston's Top Lawyers by H Texas Magazine, among other publications, Mr. Dunlap has also been cited in the seventh and eighth editions of Who's Who in American Law.
Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and great uncle, who were both attorneys, Mr. Dunlap went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration and Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas in 1971 and 1974, respectively. He was soon after admitted to the Texas Bar Association. Married to Joan Marie Simpson since 1973, Mr. Dunlap has two children and three grandchildren. When he isn't busy at the office, Mr. Dunlap enjoys spending his free time with his family.
