With more than 40 years of professional experience, Mr. Hazlitt has been an assistant professor and chair at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY, since 2003. Prior to obtaining his current role, he was an assistant professor at Columbia University from 1982 to 1994, a drawing instructor at Long Island University in 1986, and a visiting artist at Columbia University, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and Loft Calle Isidro in Cadaqués, Spain. Earlier in his career, Mr. Hazlitt was an artist-in-residence at San Joaquin Delta College in 1977. In addition to his primary endeavors, he was a former juror of the Scholastic National Arts Awards and a member of Artist Talk on Art in New York City.
Mr. Hazlitt began his career as a student at San Joaquin Delta College, where he obtained an Associate of Arts in 1969. He then joined Sonoma State University, completing a Bachelor of Arts in 1971. He continued his studies with California State University, where he earned a Master of Arts in 1973. Mr. Hazlitt also holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and he is a member of the College Art Association.
Among the highlights of his career, Mr. Hazlitt is most proud of being showcased in the Whitney Museum Biennial in 1975, as well as being documented in a Baroque exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, France, in 1981. Likewise, he was showcased in a retrospective in Toulon, France, the following year.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hazlitt has been recognized for his contributions. He received an Art Award from Bank of America, an International Achievement Award from the Stockton Arts Commission, and a Scudder Association Foundation Award. He has also been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the East.
