Dr. Young-Don Lee, a professor at Jeju National University, was given the Top 100 Scientists Pinnacle of Achievement Award for exceptional achievements in the arena of developmental biology.

With 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Young-Don Lee has been a professor at Jeju National University since 2002. Prior to obtaining his current position, he was an associate professor with the university from 1997 to 2002, assistant professor from 1993 to 1997, lecturer from 1991 to 1993, and an assistant from 1988 to 1991. In addition to his primary roles, he was a visiting foreign researcher with the University of the Ryukyus, a Jeju Lava Water Project group leader, a chief director of the Jeju Bio-Forum, and director of the Marine Science Institute at Jeju National University. Furthermore, he served the Korean Society of Developmental Biology as president, the Korean Society of Research on Olive Flounder as president, the Regional Innovation System Olive Flounder Project as group leader, and the Golden Seed Project as group leader.

Dr. Young-Don Lee began his career with the Korean Army, serving from 1980 to 1982. He then pursued an education at Jeju National University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1985. He subsequently joined Pukyong National University, completing a Master of Science in 1987. He concluded his studies with the university in 1990, earning a Doctor of Philosophy.

Among his notable achievements, Dr. Lee is most renowned for his research in larval development and breeding of groupers in Jeju Island, the sex characteristics of hermaphroditic wrasse and groupers, and the sex differentiation of olive flounder, rock fish and small abalone. Alongside his principal career endeavors, he has authored several books, including "Developmental Biology," "Aquaculture" and "Fisheries and Ichthyology." He has also maintained affiliation with Rotary International in his spare time.

Throughout his career, Dr. Lee has been recognized for his contributions. He was given the Top 100 Scientists Pinnacle of Achievement Award for exceptional achievements in the arena of developmental biology, the Science and Technology Award, and the Citation of the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea. He has also been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who's Who in Asia, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.
