MACON, GA, March 15, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Carmelita Beal Parrish with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Parrish celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Parrish taught as both a secondary school educator and adjunct instructor in Georgia for more than 20 years. Originally teaching English, Spanish and graphic arts with the Ware County Board of Education in Waycross, GA, beginning in 1981, she later taught both Spanish and English with the Telfair County Board of Education in McRae, GA, and at Pickens County High School in Jasper, GA. Ms. Parrish then taught Spanish at Macon State College, now known as Middle Georgia State University, between 1999 and 2006.

Besides teaching, one of Ms. Parrish's other passion is writing. She has three published poems: one in Spanish titled "Te Quiero," and two in English titled "Dreams", and "Shawn." Involved in her local community, Ms. Parrish is a Sunday school teacher, Baptist Church Choir member and leader of a local women's bible study. She has also been a European tour leader and band chaperone of student travel since 1973. She formerly served as a leader of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America, and as Neighborhood Chairman of Troops on Foreign Soil in Seville, Spain.

Ms. Parrish is a former evaluation committee member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and past president of a local chapter of Georgia Association of Educators. She is also a longtime member of the National Education Association, the National Council of Teachers of English and Phi Kappa Phi. In 1987, the Waycross-Ware Chamber of Commerce honored Ms. Parrish with a Star Teacher Award. Listed in the International Dictionary of Biographies in Oxford, England, Ms. Parrish has also been cited in close to 20 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who of American Women.

Becoming interested in education by her Latin and junior homeroom teachers while still in high school, Mrs. Parrish learned the importance of respect early on. Admiring her teachers, she later decided that she wanted to become a teacher as well. Attending Middle Georgia State University, she earned an Associate of Arts in 1979, followed by a Bachelor of Science in education from Georgia Southern University in 1981, Master of Education from Valdosta State University in 1988, and Master of Arts from the University of Georgia in 1993.

Born in Varina, NC, Ms. Parrish's father was notably a World War I and World War II veteran. Later marrying her late husband John J. Parrish in 1953, who also fought in the Republic of Korea and Vietnam, she is the mother of two children and grandmother of two grandchildren.
