EAST LONGMEADOW, MA, March 19, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Galina Gertsenzon with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Gertsenzon celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Gertsenzon taught at the Elms College for 20 years and has been a professor of classical piano at Westfield State University for the past 35 years. A former staff pianist at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 1981 to 1982, she also taught at Smith College from 1985 to 1986 and was a professor of music at the Baku Academy of Music in her home country of Azerbaijan from 1970 to 1981.

In the 50-plus years that Ms. Gertsenzon taught in both the USSR and the United States, she prepared over 100 international and national piano competition winners and served as a frequent judge at various local, state and regional piano contests. She has been co-chair of the Young Artist Piano Competition at Westfield State University for 16 years. Many of Ms. Gertsenzon's piano students performed at Carnegie Hall.

In addition to her vast teaching experience, Ms. Gertsenzon has had an extensive piano performance career as soloist, accompanist and chamber music performer.

Ms. Gertsenzon is a longstanding member of the Music Teachers National Association and an advisory board member of the junior extension of the Tuesday Morning Music Club. She has also been active as a volunteer with the Immigrant Resettlement Program in Springfield, MA, since 1981. Honored with a Steinway Society Competition Winner's Teacher Certificate and a Crescendo International Competition Winners' Teaching Diploma, Ms. Gertsenzon has also been cited in Who's Who in America and Who's Who of American Women.

Playing the piano since the age of 7, Ms. Gertsenzon was encouraged by her father and discovered that music gave her a powerful way to express complex emotions. Although she showed talent for both music and mathematics, she ultimately chose to pursue her passion for music. Studying at the Baku Academy of Music, Ms. Gertsenzon earned a Bachelor of Music in 1964. Six years later, she earned her Master of Music degree from Gorky Conservatory in 1970.

Knowing the challenges of growing up as a Jew in the Soviet Union, she and her husband, Igor Gertsenzon wanted a better future for their only daughter, Elena. Their immigration process brought them to Vienna and Rome before they were cleared to enter the United States in 1981. In addition to her broad involvement in music, Ms. Gertsenzon enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Galina Gertsenzon has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
