John Geis, Ph.D., Recognized for Service to the United States Air Force and Education

    MONTGOMERY, AL, March 19, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John Geis, Ph.D., has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. With more than 35 years of experience with the United States Air Force, Dr. Geis has served as the director of the Airpower Research Task Force at the Air War College and as a Content Advisory Board member with Futures Platform since 2016. Prior to obtaining these positions, he was with the Air Force Research Institute as the Chief of Research from 2012 to 2016, and as a research professor from 2011 to 2012. From 1983 to 2011, he served on active duty with the U.S. Air Force, retiring at the rank of colonel and working as a flight instructor in the F-111, chief administrator of several organizations, chief of the leadership branch for primary leadership school for officers, and chief of strategic planning for U.S. Air Force Special Forces. In addition he was the Air Force Institute of Technology Liaison to the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2004 to 2007, and Director of the Air Force Center for Strategy and Technology from 2002 to 2004 and again from 2007 to 2011.

Dr. Geis joined the military via the ROTC scholarship program, attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he earned a Bachelor of Science in meteorology in 1983, and became one of the youngest television weather anchors in history, serving as Chief Meteorologist of WISC-TV. Upon being called to active duty in 1983, he found the military to be fulfilling as each assignment offered new challenges and exciting opportunities.

In 1995, Dr. Geis earned a Master of Political Science degree from Auburn University at Montgomery. He returned to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a Master of Arts in political science in 2005 and he completed his Doctorate of Philosophy in political science, specializing in international relations in 2007.

A respected leader in the field, Dr. Geis has written nearly 30 articles in his areas of expertise, and he has lectured and taught seminars at both the graduate and undergraduate levels for the Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy, the Squadron Officer College, Air Command and Staff College, and the Air War College. He has given over 100 invited guest presentations in Asia, North America and Europe. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his contributions with awards and honors including the Legion of Merit from the U.S. Air Force in 2011.
